Specialists Agree Melting Arctic Ice Due To Man Made Global Warming

With the bulk of my attention focused on the upcoming Presidential election, I have not paid much attention to the ongoing Global Warming ahem ‘debate’. An article in the New York Times on Saturday caught my eye however, as the headline read “Arctic Ice Hints at Warming, Specialists Say“. Since I had written almost 1 year ago that NASA was reporting the melting Arctic ice was due to unusually strong winds carrying the ice into warmer waters, I was curious what the “specialists” that the New York Times had to say.

While currents and winds play a role, experts say, the expanding open water in the far north provides the latest evidence that the Arctic Ocean, long a frozen region hostile to all but nuclear submariners and seal hunters, is transforming during the summers into more of an open ocean.

This was refreshing to see in the New York Times whose editorial pages are known to be chock full of Global Warming hysteria. The “specialists” consulted by the Times in this instance, at least acknowledged the affect the wind and currents play in the melting of Arctic ice. Of course, this being the New York Times, somehow I knew what was coming next:

Global warming from the continuing buildup of human-generated greenhouse gases is almost certainly contributing to the ice retreats, many Arctic specialists now agree, although they hold a variety of views on how much of the recent big ice retreats is due to human activity.

Oddly, those Arctic “specialists” failed to make mention of the fact that ice coverage in the Arctic was 260,000 square miles above that of August 2007. Stop The ACLU wonders exactly who are these so-called specialists, as the Times does not mention a single scientist, nor organization which they consulted.
