Sarah Palin Decision To Have Trig A Sign Of Hypocrisy?
Unfortunately there are not enough hours in the day to rebut all of the senseless, even down right asinine attacks being leveled against Sarah Palin, however every once in a while the left will go so far overboard, it is impossible to ignore it. Dr. Rahul K. Parikh has an article at Salon.com today about Sarah Palin’s ‘Choice’, which outlines the left’s misguided views of what it actually means to be pro-life.
What troubles me about Palin’s fifth pregnancy is that she was given a choice whether to have Trig, a choice that, as a staunchly pro-life politician, she would deny other women. But let me back up for moment.
The author would need to back up quite a bit in order to grasp the concept he is attempting to write about. One thing needs to be made clear to the pro-choice crowd and that is this… if you are pro life you do not consider it a “choice” to have an abortion. The author operates under the assumption that because Palin had tests done to determine the health of her baby, she was considering aborting the child.
While it is true I cannot speak for Mrs. Palin, nor do I know the details of any private conversations she may, or may not have had with her husband with regards to this matter; from my conversations with pro life women I can tell you confidently, Sarah Palin did not have a choice. A pro life woman making a choice as to wether or not she should carry her child to term is akin to a MADD member “choosing” wether to drive home drunk or call a cab. That is, although the option may be available, the final decision was already pre determined, without even a consideration of the other option.
While I can forgive Dr. Parikh for being unable to make that distinction, what I cannot forgive is his closing sentence:
“But her to decision to have him is also a sign of her hypocrisy.”
Hypocrisy is a term used so loosely by the left, it often makes me wonder if they have ever taken the time to look the word up. For their benefit I will add the definition here so we will no longer have any confusion as to what constitutes hypocrisy:
The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess - The American Heritage Dictionary
Sarah Palin believes that abortion is a sin, and feels all children are a blessing from God. By giving birth to a child having known in advance her child had Down syndrome, Sarah Palin has practiced what she preaches. Doing so does not make her a hypocrite, it makes her a roll model for other politicians who routinely have a “do as i say, not as i do” mentalitity toward legislating.
