Reply To Liberal Moron Over The Gwatney Shooting

Generally I do not blog when I have been drinking, because my emotions run much hotter and I know I would (and have) written something that I would not normally publish. This is one of those rare exceptions where I feel it is necessary to respond to someone who questioned my motives for writing about Bill Gwatney’s untimely death. (P.S. like a typical teenager he used profanity to emphasize his point)

For starters, although he claims to have been with the extended family when the phone call came in, he felt the need to check on what conservatives were saying in order to give himself a few talking points. Then, predictably, much like other liberal bloggers, rather than focus on the tragedy at hand, he crucifies conservatives who were merely pointing out the hypocrisy of left wingers. Here was my reply in full (keep in mind I have been drinking tonight):

I realize you have a blog with no following whatsoever, so you feel it is necessary to insult people in order to receive some form of response, but you are totally off base on this issue. MI (sic- drunk typo) normally wouldn’t have even blogged about this incident, because outside of local politics Mr. Gwatney was a non issue. While it is tragic that he has died from this incident, in my opinion he is no different than the hundreds of other innocent people who die each day from random violence. The point I was trying to make was that liberals like yourself jumped on this not because they cared about the person, but only cared about his political affiliation. Before any facts were known it was immediately blamed on right wingers, and calls for censorship and new legislation were everywhere.

My initial assumption that the shooter was a former employee appears to be accurate, meaning people like yourself were way off base by making this a political issue. You said Michelle Malkin should wait a week before saying anything about it because a guy with a family died, but where was your respect by pointing out those of us who mocked people like yourself that tried to politicize his death?

Your own Commenting Policy says “Of course, you should be aware that if you say something totally fucked up and stupid, I might have to turn it into a full post so the whole class can point and laugh.”

Malkin was simply pointing and laughing at the moron who tried to make this a political issue before all the facts were in, just as you did by mentioning the Tennessee incident.

You are no better than the guy who e-mail Michelle Malkin blaming her, nor any different than the Daily Kos members that I referred to who blamed Hannity or Limbaugh.

When Tony Snow passed away, and when Robert Novak was diagnosed with cancer, I read numerous posts from lefties which celebrated the occurance. No one on the right celebrated this incident, and truth be known, probably only a small handful, if even that many, even knew who Gwatney was prior to it occurring, yet that didn’t stop the liberals from attempting to make it a political issue.

I stand by my original remarks that liberals would have been happier if this had a been a Sean Hannity/Rush Limbaugh conservative who pulled the trigger, rather than simply a personal issue between an employer and former employee.

  1. Where do you get that it was a employee/employer issue? From the news I can find, it looks like the shooter had worked at a Target.

    Please share links.

  2. what does it matter if he has “no following whatsoever?” is this a popularity contest? you must be the quarterback.

  3. Sarah, the initial reports were that he worked for Gawtney, those reports were later corrected.

  4. sooo…if he HAD worked for bill gwatney, this would be excusable? just one of those “oh, how unfortunate, but that’s the job world” kind of situations? i don’t follow

  5. The point I was making is that it is irresponsible to assign blame to conservative talk show hosts, when the motive of the shooter has not even been established yet. Commenters on the Huffington Post and Daily Kos did not care about the victim in this incident, they only cared about trying to blame it on right wingers.
