Democrats Objects To Drilling Even At $10 Per Gallon
So when do Democrats believe is an opportune time to drill?? Five dollars per gallon? Seven dollars per gallon? How about ten dollars per gallon? The answer according to Ken Salazar (D-CO) is never. If we were to turn back the clock to the late 90’s when Bill Clinton vetoed the Republican passed bill which would allow for drilling in ANWR, we would see the same type of faulty logic we are witnessing today. Democrats continue to tell the American people that it will take 10 years to reap any benefits from opening additional lands to drilling. The problem, which they have yet to come to terms with, is that they have been saying this for ten years. Those benefits would have been reaped by now had they not obstructed progress in favor of environmentalists.
Mitch McConnell was proposing new drilling today when the average price of gasoline were to hit a predetermined price. Ken Salazar called it a “phantom solution”, much as Bill Clinton did 10 years ago. Even when the average price reaches $10 per gallon, Salazar objects to additional drilling.
Democrats will continue to object to opening new lands for drilling for the simple fact that high energy prices only embolden their agenda. For years Democrats have thrived on the misfortunes of the poor and middle class, knowing their economic hardships only serve to empower the party that promises more benefits. Democrats will continue to make promises of raising the middle class through entitlements while ignoring the economic factors which actually effect the people they claim to care about. Opening new lands for drilling may not have an immediate impact on fuel prices however within the next ten years we will certainly see the effects.
Unfortunately for the American people, Democrats believe that the potential negative environmental impact outweigh the very real economic impacts that high fuel prices have laid upon us. They will continue to push the fallacy that somehow bio fuels will save Americas independence on foreign oil, while offering subsidies to the Midwest farmers whose vote they are trying to court. Using partisan parlor tricks, they have managed to convince the majority of voters that Republicans are in the tank for big oil companies, while ignoring the fact that at this moment in time, we have no viable alternative.
Had Bill Clinton listened to Republicans ten years ago, we would not be having this debate right now. If Nancy Pelosi were to listen to Republicans today, we may avoid having this debate 10 years from now.

Listen, anybody who’s against offshore drilling clearly hasn’t thought of the countless problems that it would solve. For example,
Problem: pollutants increase nationwide. Your kid has asthma attacks on a daily basis. On “bad air days” he can’t go outside.
Solution: You’re going to need some cheap fuel to drive him back and forth to the hospital. Try drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge. Also, you should gut the clean air regulations. Actually, you have enough to worry about. Let us do it for you.

Eliana, The point is that there is currently no viable alternative to gasoline, so if Democrats want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, they must do it by authorizing us to use domestic oil.
