More Charges Of Racism In Democratic Primary

The Washington Post has an article today detailing racists encountered by Obama volunteers. The paper goes to great lengths to imply that these encounters are the rule, rather than the exception, even going so far as to state that some voters are racist and don’t even know it. One thing the paper does not do however, is to remind readers that these encounters are occurring only within the Democratic party, as Pennsylvania was a closed primary.

The mainstream media goes through great lengths to separate racial tensions from Democrats, as any appearance of racism among the party would completely undermine the media’s attempts to paint Republicans as racists. The truth is, racism in this country has declined dramatically over the last generation and in all likelihood will be completely irradiated by the next generation. This leaves media outlets such as the Washington Post in the precarious position of having to actively seek out stories of racial bigotry, in some cases actually inventing it themselves. Take for example this paragraph:

Pollsters have found it difficult to accurately measure racial attitudes, as some voters are unwilling to acknowledge the role that race plays in their thinking. But some are not. Susan Dzimian, a Clinton supporter who owns residential properties, said outside a polling location in Kokomo that race was a factor in how she viewed Obama. “I think if it was somebody other than him, I’d accept it,” she said of a black candidate. “If Colin Powell had run, I would be willing to accept him.”

The paper implies race factors into the decision making process among more voters than are willing to acknowledge it, yet they offer no explanation as to how Obama has done so well among white voters in spite of this fact. Racial demagogue’s continue to ignore the fact that the majority of voters feel the way Susan Dzimian do. They do not refuse to vote for Obama because he is half black, they refuse to vote for him for purely political reasons. Unfortunately politics does not factor into the decision making process among many on the left who do not see past the color of a persons skin, or their gender.
