Howell Raines Accuses Bill Clinton of Race-Baiting

Disgraced former editor of the New York Times today accused Bill Clinton of race baiting.

Howell Raines said tonight that Bill Clinton has engaged in a subtle race-baiting campaign against Barack Obama.

“He has sought to, in a low key way, remind people, ‘Hey, this guy is black,’” Raines said of Clinton during a panel discussion at a journalism awards banquet sponsored by The Week magazine.

Had Mr. Raines provided one or two examples, I am sure this accusation would be better recieved by the media, as well as Obama supporters. However coming from someone who admittingly gave Jayson Blair one too many chances because he was a black man, I take this comment with a grain of salt. Howell Raines was forced to resign his position as editor of the Times because he could not see past Jayson Blair’s skin color and make an executive decision based on Blair’s poor performance rather than his race. Seems a little hypocritical of him to now accuse Bill Clinton of “reminding people that Obama is black”.

Exit Question: Why didn’t Howell Raines accuse Obama supporters of race-baiting a month ago when black Clinton supporters were being called Uncle Toms?

  1. I do not find it probable that Bill Clinton would be guilty of race-baiting for the sake of race-baiting. He has always been a proponent and advocate of the minority factor, and has pumped time and money in the support of minority businesses and organizations, particularly African American resources for the betterment of the community. I would, however, see Barack Obama’s supporters and such stooping to race-baiting to promote the underdog factor. That is a more probable perspective. What’s more, African Americans are falling for it. The Carpentersville, IL. superdelegate resignation issue should be an indicator, as well as the refusal to outright condemn and ostracize the actions of Reverend Wright; a perpetuator of racial divide personified. To me, the entire African community should be up in arms condemning this man. I do not think Barack realizes that race-baiting is an insult to non-black constituents who have worked very hard to overcome and attempt to rectify the racial inequities and sins of the past. Barack’s crew is trying to plant seeds in the minds of those African Americans who (he) deems not intelligent enough to see through this divisive tactic; all in the name of gaining support. That, my friends, is race-baiting. Subtle and effective.

  2. Well, I hardly think Billy-boy needs to “REMIND” voters that Sen. Obama is black - just one look will tell you.

    Duh.

Howell Raines takes stupidity to a whole new level.
