John Hawkins of RightWingNews.com has a post this morning which at first made me angry. Hawkins is one of my favorite columnists at Townhall.com, and in part the reason I started blogging. His entry this morning indicated that he intends to become a gossip blogger, and has purchased the domain name Celebrity Slut Puppies for that purpose.

Over the last few months, I’ve noticed — and you’ve probably noticed that the bikini links on Conservative Grapevine do far better than any of the political material.

Moreover, these last few articles I’ve done on female bloggers have really opened my eyes. For example, I did twice as much traffic yesterday off of the Interviewing Six Conservative Female Bloggers On Dating as I do on a normal day — which just confirmed what I was thinking.

Barack Obama is a phony. Hillary Clinton should be spending her time ironing Bill’s shirts before he goes out on dates instead of running for President. John McCain is 4000 years old. In other words, political blogging is old and tired and gossip blogging is where it’s at.

Did you know gossip blogs, on average, pull much more traffic than political blogs? It’s true.

That’s why I bought the Celebrity Slut Puppies domain — and, yes, it does work already. Go ahead and try it…I’ll wait…but, not all d*mn day; hurry up! No need to change your bookmarks because Right Wing News will still continue to work, but from now on we’re CSP instead of RWN.

And I am going to do gossip blogging RIGHT. By that, I mean, I am going to give people exactly what they want — lots and lots of pictures of beautiful celebrities mixed in with just enough commentary to keep it from getting too dull.

I know a few of you may be disappointed by this news, but I think most of you will prefer the new blog. I mean, come on — pictures of Kim Kardashian’s butt or a post on the flat tax? Paris Hilton sex tapes or the latest debate over FISA? An interview with Angelina Jolie or an interview with Alan Greenspan?

I think we know which option all of you prefer. So, get ready to love Celebrity Sex Puppies — ooh, Freudian slip there — Celebrity Slut Puppies, because it is going to be the best thing going in the blogging world!

I was infuriated by the idea that someone who called himself a conservative could sell out his principles by starting a gossip blog which essentially would be nothing more than photos of scantily clad celebrities. Now dont get me wrong, I enjoy seeing Angelina Jolie in a bikini as much as the next guy, but I do not want to lose a conservative blogger as prominent as Hawkins in order to see those photos.

It was then that it dawned on me, today is April 1 and this entry is surely meant as a prank. There is no way Hawkins has given up on political blogging just because pictures of celebrities in bikinis draw more traffic!

Ummm Right John???
