No Democracy For Democrats
Read any story about Republicans attempting to initiate some form of a voter ID law and you will inevitably find quotes from Democrats or ACLU attorneys regarding the impact on poor and minority voters. The claim is that it is a hardship for some Americans to obtain State issued identification, and no effort on the part of the State could possibly relieve that hardship in a manner that would make it acceptable. Democrats tell their constituents this is an effort by the Republicans to dilute their vote as they proudly proclaim that every vote should count. Unfortunately for members of the Democratic party, their votes do not count even amongst their own party.
Politico is reporting today that Hillary Clinton intends to go after Obama’s pledged delegates in an effort to secure the nomination.
Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign intends to go after delegates whom Barack Obama has already won in the caucuses and primaries if she needs them to win the nomination.
This strategy was confirmed to me by a high-ranking Clinton official on Monday.
“I swear it is not happening now, but as we get closer to the convention, if it is a stalemate, everybody will be going after everybody’s delegates,” a senior Clinton official told me Monday afternoon. “All the rules will be going out the window.”
As it turns out, the so-called “pledged” delegates are not really pledged at all. Although delegates are expected to cast their vote in accordance with the will of the people, the notion that they are required to cast their vote in that manner is a “myth” according to the Democratic National Committee. “Mrs. Clinton’s aides said the delegates should make their decision based on who they thought would be the stronger candidate and president. Mr. Obama argues that they should follow the will of the Democratic Party as expressed in the primary and caucuses — meaning the candidate with the most delegates from the voting.”
I am sure this gives Democratic primary voters a warm feeling in their heart toward Hillary, knowing that she would ask delegates to ignore the voters and give her the nomination against their will. Meanwhile we read that Joel Ferguson a co-chairman of Hillary’s Michigan campaign has stated that if you are in a Red State you are a second class voter.
“The real second-class delegates are the delegates that are picked in red-state caucuses that are never going to vote Democratic.”
In the meantime both campaigns have been donating money to the super delegates which make up approximately 20% of the vote. A total of $890,000 has been donated by Obama and Clinton to those elitist delegates who are designated based on their standing in the party.
Obama donated the largest amount, about $694,000, to those campaigns in the past three years, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Clinton donated $195,500.
Both campaigns are furiously lobbying for support among the Democratic Party’s nearly 800 super delegates, who will be free to support whomever they choose at the convention, regardless of the outcome of the primaries. Super delegates include all Democratic members of Congress, Democratic governors and other party officials.
Democrats continue to prove their hypocrisy for their claim to be the party of the working class, when their entire nomination procedure seams to be setup in such a manner as to allow them the opportunity to ignore the working class vote in favor of what the elites of the party want.
