Thanks to a huge fund raising effort on the part of Fred Thompson supporters, Fred will be airing his newest ad across nearly every major broadcast channel and market in South Carolina tommorrow.

Thompson is still running either third or fourth in polls conducted in South Carolina where he has concentrated his efforts, and this ad should certainly help give him at least a small boost in those numbers. More importantly however, the newest Zogby poll shows Fred Thompson in third place nationally:

McCain led among independents 45 percent to 13 percent and among moderates by 53 percent to 13 percent, while McCain and Huckabee tied among Republican voters.

In third place was former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson at 14 percent, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 13 percent.

All of them shot past Giuliani, the leader in national polls for much of the year. His support has been steadily dropping, from 29 percent in November to 23 percent last month and just 9 percent this month.

Although 14% is not a significant showing, his push past Giuliani certainly is. Giuliani has staked his entire campaign on a win in Florida making it even more crucial we continue to raise funds for Thompson so he can put forth a strong campaign there.
