Flagrant Bias From The Associated Press on the Michigan Primary
I have written in the past about bias in the media, indeed there are entire websites dedicated to the notion. The Associated Press has the absurd claim on their “About Us” page which says: The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering fast, unbiased news from every corner of the world to all media platforms and formats. Sure it sounds nice to call yourself an unbiased news organization, but actions speak louder than words. At about 10:45pm EST (with about 70% of precincts reporting at the time) they released a “news” article on tonights primary in Michigan and here is how it starts:
Mitt Romney’s victory in Michigan was a defeat for authenticity in politics.
The former Massachusetts governor pandered to voters, distorted his opponents’ record and continued to show why he’s the most malleable — and least credible — major presidential candidate.
And it worked.
The very least the reporter could have done was made an attempt to hide his bias. He could have simply stated that McCain may have lost voters by speaking honestly to them about manufacturing jobs not coming back to Michigan.
