Utah Rejects Christmas Tree Honoring Soldiers

A Utah woman dedicated a Christmas Tree to Sandy Utah’s Festival Trees honoring fallen soldiers has been by organizers to take it back. The organizers did not use the prototypical argument of religion in order to reject the tree, instead opting for a much more ignorant one.

Festival chairwoman Edyth Hansen removed the tree from the main exhibit area because she said it was too tall — had more than one picture — and was not dedicated to children. Says Hansen — “Once you change the rules for one person you have change them for everyone.”

However KUTV reports several trees still in the exhibit hall also feature multiple pictures, honor people other than children, and are of similar height to the soldiers’ tree.

Organizers also had stated that fallen soldiers deserved no more recognition that someone who had died in a car crash. Dumber words have never been spoken. Only someone who has a complete lack of respect for our armed services, and the men and women who volunteer to protect our country could make such a statement with a straight face.
