Have AIDS? Blame Bush
George Bush certainly must be a miracle man if he possesses all of the powers the left accuse him of having. It seems no tragedy can occur in this country, wether it be a natural disaster, or even self inflicted which cannot somehow be traced back to the evil doings of the Bush administration. Similar to the concept of six degrees of separation in which everyone is no more than six steps away from each person on Earth, liberals ingeniously find a way to ensure George Bush is no more than 1 or 2 steps away from all of our countries ills.
At the Huffington Post yesterday the recent study of AIDS in the Washington D.C. area was the latest piece of ammunition fired at the Bush administration, with charges of neglect and the obligatory racist insinuations.
In the five-year test period in question, ending in 2006, while African-Americans comprise roughly 60 percent of the city’s population, they account for more than 80 percent of the more than 3,000 HIV cases that have been identified. Ninety percent of women residents who tested positive for the disease are African-American. And, nearly 40 percent of reported cases were among heterosexuals showing, in the words of a District administrator, that “HIV is everybody’s disease” in D.C.
Interestingly, while the author points out percentages of population compared to HIV cases by race, she neglectfully leaves out one very important statistic which can be pulled from the above paragraph. The author mentions that nearly 40 percent of reported cases were among heterosexuals, while completely ignoring the fact that 25 percent of all reported cases were from homosexuals. If the information at city-data.com is correct, that would mean 25 percent of recorded cases come from only one and half percent of the population. That translates to roughly 3,107 reported cases out of a population of 8,723. Surely this is a health epidemic which should warrant more attention, wouldn’t you think? Unfortunately, the spreading of diseases in the homosexual population is not spoken about by the left because it is not considered politically correct.
Here is another item which is not politically correct which factors into the above results. African American and Hispanic men have concurrent sex partners at 2 to 3 times the rate of whites. Common sense would dictate that the more sexual partners a person has, the higher the risk that person would have to contract a sexually transmitted disease. Common sense does not factor into the liberal agenda however, finger pointing works much better for them. The author goes on:
Many fault District health officials for not disseminating enough information, and creating a climate which is user-friendly for AIDS awareness, but the seeds of this campaign of devout ignorance may be found in the earliest days of this administration’s tenure. As president-elect, George W. Bush told The New York Times “the jury is still out” on evolution. His attitude towards condom distribution, sex education, and HIV prevention shows that, for George Bush, the jury is out on science, too.
On this administration’s watch, more than $100 million in grants have been allocated for abstinence-only education programs. The president pressured the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to eliminate, from its Web site, anything that might promote the efficacy of using condoms to prevent STDs, and AIDS. Roughly 90 percent of the $15 billion set aside for fighting HIV globally has been made available to domestic groups for use in their ongoing worldwide campaign to promote abstinence, and to discourage the use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The author highlights that “on this administrations watch, more than $100 million in grants have been allocated”, but she neglects to look at the results achieved. During the course of this study, new HIV cases dropped 25 percent from 2001 through 2006, with an even more drastic decline of 41 percent when starting in 2002 after the Bush administration had completed its first year in office. Only someone with a severe case of Bush Derangement Syndrome could consider a 41 percent reduction in new HIV cases a failure in policy.
President Bush has promoted abstinence only education, with a reduction in ’safe sex’ education for a very simple reason. There is no full proof, 100% guaranteed method to avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases any other way. If liberals are truly interested in controlling the AIDS epidemic they many first wish to speak to the rap stars and film makers who consistently glorify drug use and unprotected sex with multiple partners. They can then speak with the Department of Education who over the past few years have been indoctrinating children to believe the homosexual lifestyle is not only a natural one, but a safe one as well.
If however, all they really want is someone to blame for the problem they should try looking in the mirror.
