Imagine sitting on your couch one Sunday afternoon when the police kick down your door and drag you off to jail. The charge against you? Your child has not yet received his or her chickenpox vaccine. The State would then take custody of your child and have him or her vaccinated against your wishes.

Any sane thinking person would declare there is no way such a thing could happen in America, not in our America anyway, maybe George Orwell’s ‘1984′ America this would be possible. The sad truth is though, absent the kicking down of the doors (I added that for dramatic purposes), in some States the above scenario is a reality. It is another example of your government passing legislation which is intended for the “greater good” (always be skeptical when a politician uses that term!).

Today the Washington Post has an article regarding this:

The parents of more than 2,300 Prince George’s County students who failed to get needed vaccinations could face fines of $50 a day and up to 10 days in jail if their children do not meet the state’s immunization requirements, county officials said yesterday.

The threat of legal action is a last resort after months in which Prince George’s has struggled to get its 131,000 students immunized for chicken pox and hepatitis B, as mandated by the state. More than 2,300 students have not been immunized and have been barred from attending schools, almost two months after a Sept. 20 deadline for meeting the requirement.

My disgust with the government over mandatory immunizations is difficult to put into words. Many studies have shown the vaccines we give our children to “keep them healthy” may actually be killing them, either directly or indirectly. The Telegraph has an article pertaining to the health hazards of chicken pox just a few months ago stating:

inoculation will pose particular problems. It will push the disease into older age groups, who will catch the illness as their vaccine-induced immunity wears off, as we have seen happen with mumps. The complications of chickenpox are much greater in older people: an adult over 15 years of age is 10 times, and an adult over 50 is 100 times, more likely to die from the illness than a child.

A second problem is that vaccination is likely to increase the number of people getting shingles, more serious than chickenpox, that already causes 60 deaths a year, mainly among older people. A review in 2003 by government doctors concluded, “Routine infant varicella [chickenpox] vaccination is unlikely to be cost-effective and may produce an overall rise in morbidity [illness]”. What has changed since then? A further problem is that the vaccine consists of a live virus, like the measles, mumps and rubella vaccines. However, uniquely, a recipient of the chickenpox vaccine can be infectious; though not common, there have been numerous reports from the US of people catching chickenpox from vaccinated children.

The Hepatitis B vaccine has its own issues with almost as many children dying from the vaccine as there are reported cases of the disease!

Hepatitis B is a rare, mainly blood-transmitted disease. In 1996, only 54 cases of the disease were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the 0 to 1 age group. There were 3.9 million births that year, so the observed incidence of hepatitis B in the 0 to 1 age group was just 0.001 percent.

In the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) there were 1,080 total reports of adverse reactions from hepatitis B vaccine in 1996 in the 0 to 1 age group, with 47 deaths reported.

Think of that in terms of probability: the possibility of contracting the disease is exceedingly difficult for children and only 1.25 percent of those who are exposed will actually develop the most serious complication!

This type of “protecting the needle in the haystack” medicine is absurd at best, dangerous at worst.

I have read for years the troubles with vaccines, and their side affects on children. Politicians pretend they are interested in the ‘greater good’ when they mandate your child receives these vaccinations, however the only greater good they are concerned with is that of the pharmaceutical companies that produce the vaccines.

By mandating parents give their children a vaccine for a virus which may have fatal consequences, our lawmakers are being criminally negligent in my opinion. The chicken pox virus has only been on the market a little over a decade now, and the long term side effects are still unknown. Chicken pox itself is a mostly harmless disease during childhood years, and the majority of people reading this right now can attest to that, because we all have had it.

The tragedy of forcing children to be immunized for Hepatitis B is much much worse, unless in the rare instance where the mother has the disease. Hepatitis B is primarily transmitted sexually, or through intravenous drug use, neither of which should have any affect on kindergarten children.

I urge everyone reading this to do your own research into the subject of immunizations, and when/if you come to the same conclusions that I do, write your State legislators and demand they remove mandates on these vaccines!
