I have been writing for some time now on the politics behind the issue of Global Warming, pointing out the majority of media coverage revolves around politicians, not scientists. With each an every article I write on the subject I receive at least one comment from someone who refers to me as a ‘denier’, as if I am proclaiming a historical event has never occurred. The Global Warming debate and the politics surrounding it have little or nothing to do with history however, it is about changing the future, so it would obviously not be possible for me to be a ‘denier’, at least when speaking of events which have yet to occur.

The events which have yet to occur are what is currently being debated, and the reason Global Warming has become such a hot button issue. When speaking of future events, can anyone say with any certainty what will actually happen, or can they only offer you their best hypothesis based on historical events? The Media play their trump card when speaking on the issue by declaring their is a scientific consensus, leading Americans to believe that the entire scientific community believes we are at fault for increased global temperatures. But who decides there is a consensus, and can their ever truly be a consensus when dealing with future events? “Consensus is the stuff of politics, not science,” says Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute “It’s the inter-governmental panel on climate change. It’s governments who nominate people. It’s inherently political. Many of the scientists are on the IPCC because they view global warming as a problem that needs to be fixed. They have a vested interest.”

At least once a week a scientist will speak out on the subject declaring he is not yet convinced of mans role in climate change. The consensus the media continues to report on appears not to exist, yet polls indicate more than half of Americans believe the Government should take action to slow or reverse global warming. Most recently John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel declared Global Warming to be “The Greatest Scam in History”:

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious. As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped. The sky is not falling. And, natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend.

Undoubtedly this article will be largely ignored by the media, indeed even by some who are reading this right now. The belief in man made global warming has become so embedded in many people, it can be likened to a belief in God, with Al Gore representing their savior. By ignoring arguments which go against their beliefs, disregarding Al Gore’s hypocrisy of asking Americans to reduce emissions all the while flying around the globe, and believing somewhat ignorantly they have the power to change the world, they are opening the door for Government to take advantage of them.

For those of you who believe in your heart of hearts that you have the power to change the world, and are determined to do your part, I say good for you! By all means walk instead of drive, live in a dimly lit home, only travel when necessary, and buy as many carbon credits as you can afford. The rest of us however will continue to fight the propaganda machine which will inevitably lead to more taxes, and more Government spending.
