State of Oregon to Deport an American Citizen
This story is a display of government bureaucracy at it’s worst, and a reminder of how our government agencies are faulty. Only a few short months ago immigration activists were up in arms as Elvira Arellano was deported, leaving behind her 8 year old son who was born in this country, making him what is known as an anchor baby. Elvira’s son was a United States citizen, therefore it was the mother’s option as to wether or not to bring him with her when she was deported to Mexico. Ms. Arellano chose to leave her with friends here in the United States, and our government was accused of breaking up a family.
What you are about to read about is much, much worse, it is the story of Gabriel Allred, a 2 year old who was born in the United States, to a mother who is a United States citizen, and whose father was here illegally. The boys father Roberto Valiente-Martinez was recently released from prison after serving a sentence for a drug conviction, his prior criminal activities include the raping of a 12 year old girl. Having been in this country illegally, Roberto has since been deported, and stated he intends to move back in with his mother in Mexico. The boys mother Lindsey Allred, also has a criminal history having pled guilty to felony drug charges last year. She is now a fugitive after failing to show up for her sentencing.
Gabriel in the meantime has been living for the last 20 months with Steve and Angela Brandt who are now attempting to adopt the young child after his biological parents lost their parental rights (for obvious reasons). Amazingly the Oregon Department of Human Services adoption committee voted 2-1 to send Gabriel to live with his grandmother in Mexico. After an appeal by the Brandt family, who are the only family this 2 year old child knows, the board then ruled unanimously to send the child to Mexico!
In their infinite wisdom DHS has decided it would be in the child’s best interest to be pulled from the only parents he has known, and shipped to a foreign country to live with his paternal grandmother along with his child molesting father who had stated that is where he intended to live as well. Words cannot describe my frustration with our government when I read about stories like this, and even more so my frustration with the media. While Elvira Arellano was interviewed in most major newspapers, along with national television (while being in this country illegally), the Brandt family and Gabriel Allred have all but been ignored, save a few local news outlets.
The Brandt family is now left with the lone option of fighting this decision in court, incurring thousands of dollars in legal bill to prevent the deportation of a United States citizen. With that in mind a legal defense fund has been set up at Washington Mutual in the name of “Baby Gabriel.”
I am now challenging all civil rights groups who spoke out on behalf of Elvira Arellano, including the National Organization for Women (NOW), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), to speak out on behalf of Gabriel. These are all American civil rights groups, made up of American donations, which receive American tax breaks, and should assist in bringing to light the story of this American citizen.
Update: According to Jay at Stop the ACLU, the talk show host Lars Larson has contacted the ACLU to see if they would help and they claim there is nothing they can do.
Note to the ACLU, this family is in need of legal support, you are an orginization made up of lawyers, it should not be difficult to figure out how you can help! It should come as no surprise though that the American Civil Liberties Union refuses to help an American citizen, they are too busy fighting for the rights of terrorist suspects in Guantanamo and illegal aliens in this country!

How can they deport an American Citizen. The ACLU is disgusting and I urge you to contact the PACIFIC JUSTICE INSTITUTE. I just cant believe this is happenning
I am just wondering how the laws in Oregon work. I am origionally from Oregon being born in Roseburg.
I am also an Adoptive mother of 2 Special needs children through the Department of Family Services.
I watched the interview on The Morning Show this morning and I heard them state that The Biological Parents Rights had been terminated..(TPR) I thought law states that if TPR is finalized that since the parents rights are then terminated then that child no longer has Parents and that would also mean that that same child would no longer legally have ANY Biological relatives. Including the relatives of the Biological mother and father. That is why TPR is done. So that noone can then claim the child as family. Not that they never existed but that they are no longer allowed to make a family connection claim to this Child. Someone should look into that law and also how long ago TPR took place. If the TPR took place more than 30 days ago then the State could be in default of their own law. The TPR process is in place to not only protect the child, the adoptive placement and the other parties involved but to also protect the Department of Family services. If they go to TPR that is the State saying that they had made every possible connection to family and that they had exhauseted their resources. Then the child can go to Adoptions. If the baby was allready in an adoptive placement,TPR had been finalized and the placement was still in good standing then I do not see how the state can take upon itself to TWEEK the laws that are put in place to stabalize and make a permenant home for this child. If this Grandmother knew about this child and made no effort to make contact then that says a lot about her and also about why her Son ended up in the mess that he did!!! God help that little boy. She also states that she did not make contact due to her not knowing who to call. IGNORaNCE IS BLIND!!! If she cannot make a simple call to her son in jail to get in touch with a case worker then who is to say there will be contact with one after this child is sent to her. Will she also state she did not know how to get him a good education,a trip to the emergency room if needed or help with a drug or alcohol problem. This little boy will be sent to a foreign country with complete strangers speaking something that he cannot understand. Here he would be raised by loving people in a place where resources are not limited.He can learn Spanish if he chooses to do so and he can have all of the freedoms that our country can offer and as the Foster/Adoptive Family stated he can have communication and visits with the Biological Family. They are very open to leaving communication and visits open with all of the Biological relatives involved. KUDOS to this Bio mother who is standing up for her bio. sons rights. Maybe she did not fight in the beginning because she knew it was not in his best interest. But, she is looking out for his best interest at this time. Noone is perfect. But, this mother states she has been clean for a year and a half. If any one should be given a chance to raise this child other than his Family that he resides with now if she is proven clean and has her life togethor it should be her. IF A TPR CAN BE TOTALLY IGNORED THEN THAT OPENS UP A WHOLE CAN OF WORMS FOR THE REST OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE ADOPTED CHILDREN. IT WOULD SET A PRESEDENCE FOR ANY BIO.FAMILY TO COME IN AND USE TO GET A CHILD BACK!

Today a Lincoln county judge decided that Gabriel will stay with the Brandts until the case goes to court. So, for the time being, Gabriel will stay at home in the USA.
No, I do not live in Oregon, but every decision like this concerning a child affects us all. I live in Ft. Myers Florida, and within less than 2 years 2 children have lost their lives here because of decisions like this from the local DHS. They also believed the mothers would protect their children. Notice I said mothers. In order for DHS to reach their “goal’ of reuniting families the child was returned. Less than 2 months later these children were dead. A three year old boy, and a thirteen year old girl.. These children were monitored in this country. I believe the alleged grandmother thinks she can protect Gabriel, but the overwhelming stats are she CAN NOT.
Looking at their decision of ” family, and heritage/culture over “attachment” has me seriously wondering about the people that made this decision. Gabriel has a “parent-child relationship” with the Brandts. It is much more than an “attachment”. Blood does NOT make a family. What about his American heritage/culture?? I guess being a U.S, citizen doesn’t mean what it used too.
I helped start, and manage a large animal sanctuary here in Florida. We have taken in many abused, neglected animals from all over the state.. I used to wonder how people could do this to animals. Now I think if people (in power) can make decisions like for/to children than there is no hope for lesser beings. And it scares me…….
The Governor can apparently pardon convicted criminals,but he cannot overturn the deportation of a two year old child. Can someone in Oregon enlighten me?

The ACLU cannot do anything except file an amicus brief unless it is contacted in writing by an offended party. It can only file an amicus brief after a lawsuit has been filed. I’m sure they’ll get involved, but they need something to happen first.

Something has happened. The Governor would not help me stop my grandaughter Adrianna from being deported and she was 3 years old. Same basic story only that her illegal immigrant father was a drug dealer that got my daughter hooked. I warned them how dangerous the family was as I was lucky to survive my trip down their 5 years prior as a full grown adult. They all thought I was mental and a liar just trying to adopt my own grand daughter. They denied me for bogus reasons and couldn’t do an interstate compact to Washington state from Oregon either, they actually with drew their request according to Washington CPS. The father wanted her to go to his sisters to be adopted.
She was also a special needs, hypothyroidism, mom american and she was born in the U.S. She was sent to VeraCruz Mexico 2 wks before the adoption would be finalized DIF/DHS in Mexico did a well child check and approved her for the final time. She then beat her death, the only reason we were notified is because the adoption hadn’t been finalized yet. ACLU still doesn’t think it has to stand up for us, I say we stop giving them money they are using are money against us and giving illegals more rights than U.S. children and the citizens that pay for it.
Why do illegal immigrants, here or in another country have more rights to say what they want to happen in our country and to our children than we do. Why are we giving them money to treat our children, or should I say neglect to stand up for their rights; they to are minorities in part/they are biracial. So heaven help us, in Oregon it seems to get help from any of these government entities you have to not be American or be voluntarily retarded. If you are here illegally you have many more options, U.S. kids are guaranteed insurance, not safety or protection from the system built to protect them.
I am hopeful that the loss of my grandaughter who by the way the welfare here decided to give more respect again to the family that killed her than to ours or to respect Adrianna that they buried her in Mexico. Total reverse racism. If we sued because my daughter voluntarily terminated many attorney’s have said it would be the state suit against the state as they were the custodial parents. We still want to bury her remains here in the U.S. and no one wants to take responsiblility for their crimes. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City wants us to pay for it $2-$5k plus air return, cemetary, services, autopsy here et al… The State office refuses to help as does the president of the United States. There are bigger criminals in this than my daughter who has been clean now for 3 years.
ACLU well not help U.S. citizens unless your are gay, lesbian or minority our money being put there is useless to us and we don’t have any rights or any defender of our rights. THE CHILDREN RIGHTS, THE INNOCENT OF EVERYTHING ARE THE RIGHTS THAT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT. I don’t understand why that illegal woman has a choice of where her child should go, she is illegal he was born here only unless he is 1/2 american the child/children should go home with her. Parents protect their children better than anyone. We are giving them to much to say, remember they are here illegally. Why should we once again, hand over the dollars to over load our already over loaded system with immigration issues; these children are not abused they shouldn’t have that option. They should go with them even if they’re born here if both of their parents are illegal. We shouldn’t pay to raise their children when we don’t blink at sending our own out of the country because we don’t want them in the system because it’s expensive. Whose paying for the system anyway, remember guys we are. It should work for us and our children.
