I am back from a three day weekend and apparently have missed quite a lot while I was gone. It now appears that the homeless, drug addicted muggers on the streets of New York City are Conservatives who hate liberal talk radio. I know its sounds funny, and believe me it came as quite a shock to me as well, but with so many liberal blogs reporting the same story it must be true! Right?

Here is what passes as “news” on the left:

According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week. At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the attack and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.

Elliott was extremely agitated when he reported on the incident. He opened his show by saying “it is with sadness that tonight I inform you that my Air America colleague Randi Rhodes was assaulted last night while walking her dog near her New York City home.”

Pointing out that Rhodes was wearing a jogging suit and displayed no purse or jewelry, Elliott speculated that “this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging.”

“Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own,” he asked. “Are we threatening them. Are they afraid that we’re winning. Are they trying to silence intimidate us.”

Liberal bloggers have picked up on the story, and the comments would actually be funny if they were meant as satire. Commenter John Mupo wants to know what is wrong with conservatives?

For you out there on the right who seem to get your rocks off over stories like this, let me just say this one thing….you are PATHETIC, sick, and deserve to have Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain as your choices for president!!

What the %$#$ is WRONG with you people?? Are you that SICK in the head that just because you don’t agree with someone’s political views you believe that they deserve to be mugged? Are you on the right that DEMENTED??

And what REAL MEN these righties were huh?? Beating up on a WOMAN!! There’s your MEN on the right, woman beating, bathroom stall sexing, little boy diddling jerks!

Unfortunately the rantings of the above commenter are not the exception, they appear to be the rule. The left has totally disregarded the health of the person they supposedly care about and have concentrated solely on wether the attack can help them politically. The idea that Rhodes was attacked by a conservative because she is a liberal is ludicrous. For starters lets not forget people, she is a radio host. To be honest, I have never even heard of this woman before, so I have no reason to have any contempt for her, but even if I had heard of her, it is very likely I would have no idea what she looked like.

The left will continue with their idiotic rants that she was attacked because of who she was simply for the fact that it gives her, and her cause, the illusion of importance. The fact is, the majority of Americans have never even heard of Randi Rhodes, and only know of Air America because of their widely publicized bankruptcy. The inconvenient truth for liberals, is that the world is not all peaches and cream, and bad people do walk the street among us. It is far more likely Randi’s attack was a random act by a mugger who saw a petite white woman on Park Avenue, as opposed to some conservative actually recognizing her as a talk show host and attacking her for that reason.

That being said, as a fellow New York City resident, and someone who has also been mugged (although I did not get the attackers party affiliation), I would like to offer Randi my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Update: Turn out Randi Rhodes was not mugged, she fell:

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”

No wonder Air America is a complete and utter failure, they can’t even report the news accurately when it is a story about their own employee. Was I would like to know though is who made up the story and for what purpose? What this Randi Rhodes’ concotion, stating she was mugged because she was too embarrassed to tell her employer she needed time off because she tripped (over her dog?) and hurt herself? Or was this the work of Jon Elliot who desperately wanted to see his name in the paper. Either way, Air America has once again proven why they are failures.

Ironically the Daily Kos kids were complaining that they hadn’t heard anything about this “mugging” in the media. Michelle Malkin has a screen shot of a comment which is interesting.

Funny how the author of this diary complained about condemnation without fact checking, stating it was a fascist trait. In the meantime, the media appears to have actually been correct in this matter by not jumping all over this story only to find out later that their wasn’t one. If only the commentater at Daily Kos had done the same.
