Obama Stops Wearing Flag Pin
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he doesn’t wear the American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for “true patriotism” since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Asked about the decision Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped doing so shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens.“The truth is that right after 9-11 I had a pin,” Obama said. “Shortly after 9-11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.
“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” he said in the interview. “Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism.”
Obama was campaigning in Iowa Thursday, the second day of a four-day trip to the early voting state.
Actions speak louder than words Senator. Part of being patriotic is loving your country, another part of it is displaying that love. Try telling your wife that you will no longer say “I love you” but you will get her flowers once in a while, see what she says to you.
It is not enough to tell the American people what you believe will make this country great, you must first show us you love America as much as we do.

It is a pin. I’m sure that many are ready to protest and question his patriotism, but I’m not falling into that trap. I’m calling him out. I think that is what he is going for. Why else call the pin to everyone’s attention and make a grand announcement that you are not going to wear it? Its a cheap ploy for attention. Probably because he’s getting his but stomped by Hillary right now.
Maybe so, but i don’t think it is a wise political move to gain attention by refusing to wear an American flag pin.

Thank you for posting this about Obama. I think I’ll make sure every coat, sweater, shirt I have has a pin on it. I am proud of our country - and am not afraid to show it.
We also fly the flag outside our house every day - using Obama logic, that isn’t true patriotism either.
Obama’s reactions really make me wonder where his true patriotism lies. I have never been convinced it’s truly with the USA.

Im glad that Barack Hussein Obama is refusing to wear the American flag lapel pin. Frankly, I think its silly that he decided to make a statement of NOT wearing it and that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to make a bigger issue of it. Including….
