Is This the Best Indiana Has to Offer?
I saw a diary entry at the DailyKos today from one member thanking another for work done on a website. Apparently Julia Versau is upset with the GOP controlled city council in Valparaiso Indiana and has decided to run herself. As someone who believes in citizens governing themselves, as opposed to career politicians, I liked this idea. Then I made the unfortunate mistake of looking at Julia’s past diary entries, and I am now second guessing myself. Here are some of the thing this ‘Kossack’ had to say:
You’ve got Bullsh*t: AOL joins the debate
This is just another in a long line of bullsh*t headlines from our bullshit media. AOL truly bites the big one, and this does it for me.
The clusterf*ck that is George W. Bush cannot order Barney to piss on a hydrant.
I ask that you do not judge Julia just yet, I mean after all everyone is entitled to a mindless rant now and again right? So let’s look at the diary entry immediately preceding this one:
The King Speaks: Only the Rich Deserve Handouts
In this article she attempts to justify bailing out homeowners who can no longer afford their mortgage, by comparing their situation to the savings and loan crisis of the 1980’s. She then adds this intellectual quote:
The strategy is the same: screw the average American and then blame them for being alive, I guess. It is galling that Bush can stand at the podium and say all this shit and then this, with a straight face, “I will use the veto to keep your taxes low.”
And then there is this:
Forget the sh*t about fighting terrorists, forget the “protecting Americans” crap, ditch the idea that this has anything remotely to do with “spreading democracy.” All Cheney ever wanted to do was get his hands on the oil in the middle east. That’s what the energy task force was about, and that’s why its reports and deliberations are still hidden. Bush, who proudly told us in the debates that “nation building” was not his style, has proved his point — he has trashed a few nations since becoming president, and has democratized exactly zero. Make that negative one. Bush took this country — the United States of America — and de-democratized it.
Let me know when you start to see a pattern. The rants continue:
I can’t take it anymore. Every day I come here looking for the diary title that matters: BUSH IMPEACHED, or WAR ENDS, or DEMOCRATS UNITED TO STOP WAR. Or even CHENEY DROPS DEAD.
You see where our Democratic presidential contenders are? Arguing about their original fucking votes, throwing shit on each other, playing the game. Colbert is right. We are pussies.
P*ssies and fools and fussbudgets. I have a theory. Maybe it’s because I’m 52 now, and lived through the first go-round with these bastards. I would be willing to bet that the diarists who are liking the document dumps and the legal beagle-ing and the game playing are the younger among us. No insult meant. None at all. It’s brilliant.
It’s also pointless in many ways. Let me tell you about these f*ckers. You cannot win at this game.
Ummm did she say 52 or 15? Not often you find an adult who wishes to enter the field of politics while at the same time lacking the ability to string together 2 complete sentences without one of them containing a profanity and/or an insult.
I obviously do not think Julia has much of a chance of being elected, I mean the anti-Bush platform can only take you so far in politics before you need to have original thoughts. It also helps to speak in terms that most adults are used to hearing, as opposed to the school yard hissy fitting Julia uses to make a point.
I certainly hope this is not the best the Democrats have to offer in Indiana, if it is I hope they are prepared for many more years of GOP control.
