NAACP Urges Sponsors and NFL To Support Vick

Not surprisingly, the NAACP has decided to speak out on behalf of Michael Vick again, this time asking the NFL and his sponsors not to ban him after he has “paid his debt to society”.

“We want it clear, the NAACP we cherish and we call for fairness regardless of who it is, regardless to what color a person is, fairness because we are a social justice orginization”

Let’s examine how fair the NAACP truly is when it comes to skin color:

“The announcement by CBS and MSNBC that they will no longer carry Don Imus’ show is a welcome first step in removing this scourge from the airwaves,” said NAACP National Board of Directors Chairman Julian Bond. “Our protests against other enablers - the show’s sponsors and guests — will continue“.

This announcement came after Don Imus apologized profusely for his off color remarks, even going so far as to gravel to Al Sharpton for forgiveness. The apologies, and the loss of his job were not enough for the NAACP as they declared they still intended to protest Imus’ sponsors.

I doubt there is anyone who truly believe the NAACP wants fairness for all, regardless of race. When a black man pleads guilty to felony charges they contend he should be forgiven and not abandoned by his employer or his sponsors, when a white man says “nappy headed ho”, they argue he should be fired and lose all of his sponsors.

Sound fair to you?
