Terror Suspect to Call Convicted Terrorist as Witness

Sometimes you just can’t help but laugh at the stupidity of some individuals:

A man the government says plotted to blow up a shopping mall wants to call convicted terrorist Iyman Faris as a witness on his behalf.

Nuradin Abdi is charged with conspiring to provide support to terrorists and to using false travel documents.

The government says Abdi was plotting to blow up an unspecified central Ohio shopping mall, a plan that never materialized.

Abdi’s lawyer says Faris will testify that Abdi is guilty at most of being angry at U-S foreign policy.

Faris is serving a 20-year prison term in federal prison for a plot to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge.

Abdi’s trial is scheduled to begin next month in federal court in Columbus.

I wonder if Mr. Abdi is doing this in order to declare a mistrial later under the premise that the jury was prejudiced against his ‘character witness’. Or maybe he will claim a mistrial because his lawyer was too dumb to realize any jury would be biased against any terror subject who called a convicted terrorist as a witness!
