Media Ignores Attempted Murder of Airforce Airman
It seems every morning when I browse through the online newspapers I find at least one article in a major publication informing us of the body count the prior day in Iraq. Liberal blogs such as the Daily Kos almost seem to celebrate the news of a fallen American soldier, using it as fuel for the anti war fire. But what happens when a U.S. serviceman is shot here in America?
On July 4th of all days, Matthew J. Marren decided to protest the war in Iraq by shooting Airforce Airman Jonathan Schrieken, 22, in the heart outside his home McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. While Airman Schrieken remains in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital, the major media establishments have chosen to ignore the story altogether, apparantly deciding a rock concert deserves their undivided attention.
Although the story was released by the Associated Press, little or no attention was paid to it, until a Little Green Footballs reader informed the public.
As FrontPageMag.com notes:
Sphere: Related Content“If Airman Schrieken had been an abortionist or homosexual, this story would be front page news for the New York Times and the lead story on CBS News with Katie Couric for at least the next month. But since Schrieken is serving in the military, even his hometown newspaper, the Columbus Dispatch, has ignored this story”.
