Westboro Baptist Cult to Protest Virginia Tech Funerals
Following up once again on the tragic events of yesterday at Virginia Tech, I recently read a press release which is even more tragic. It seems Fred Phelps and his Westboro Bapstist Cult intend on using the funerals for these students as an opportunity to get their “message” across. I refuse to ever link to their website, however this is what they have to say:
WBC will preach at the funerals of the Virginia Tech students killed on campus during a shooting rampage April 16, 2007. You describe this as monumental horror, but you know nothing of horror — yet. Your bloody tyrant Bush says he is ‘horrified’ by it all. You know nothing of horror — yet. Your true horror is coming. “They shall also gird themselves with sackloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads” (Eze. 7:18).
For those of you not familiar with the Westboro Babtist Church, all you need to know is they are one of the most dispicible orginizations in the country, spewing nothing but hate filled words everywhere they go. They have protested at funerals of fallen soldiers waving signs that say “God Hates America”. Their website (which as i said I will not link to) not only “thanks God” for dead American troops but wishes for many more deaths in Iraq.
Now dont get me wrong, I am all for the freedom of speech and the right to assemble peacefully, however this is just plain wrong! I think the local police department should have every right to deny this group the right to picket because I know if these freaks showed up at a funeral for one of my loved ones there would be nothing peaceful about it!

But lets not forget who makes this all possible. Our freindly ACLU in conjunction with liberal judges. Just last year A Federal Judge nixed a law barring funeral protests. The law was brought about because of this same group showing up at military funerals with signs wishing for the deaths of more American Soldiers.
It is only a matter of time before this group pickets at the wrong funeral and their demonstrations enrage a grieving family to the point that violence breaks out. On their website godhatesamerica dot com this group “prays” for the deaths of more American soldiers. I have news for Fred Phelps and his despisable orginization, God does not hate America, God hates those who do not ‘love thy neighbor’. And although I am not a religous person, I can only hope that if there truly is a Hell, Fred Phelps and his cult all find themselves burning there for eternity.

This is crazy. I live in Blacksburg and have many friends that attend Virginia Tech and were harmed and involved by this and these crazy people should be stopped. Freedom of Religion or any freedoms should be granted to them just so they can harm the families that mourn over the loss of loved ones. Apparently the people of WBC don’t have anyone they truly love or respect because if a single one of them were to die, would they then not be hurt and upset by their loss? I don’t think any of this will end and if they do decide to come to Virginia Tech to protest anything, I don’t think they realize what may happen. I’ve watched plenty of their videos and noticed that they mostly deal with crowds of a few hundred older folks… I don’t think they know what kinda of opposite reaction the grieving students would take for it to just be peaceful in Blacksburg like it was just less than one week ago. Keeping them out of here will be an effort and can be done peacefully, but with the anger that has built up over the past few days bringing a group of people here will be devastating to them. As far as I know it will be peaceful opposition, but if you push the button too much it’s going to break eventually. The best thing to do is to have the students block them off with no violence. As many people as I have seen willing to come from West Virginia, Tennessee, and all over Virginia and combining with the students of Virginia Tech and this community there will be no problem of keeping the crazed lunatic satinistic bible pushers out of here and leave the families to grieve with the help of the real Christians or whatever real religions they prefer, not the misinterpreted words of God from some crazy wannabe saints.
I live at Fort Hood, TX and have heard of these f**ktards protesting at soldiers funerals here. I am patiently waiting one of these people to die so I can go protest at thrie funeral. I’ve neve rbeen a protester, but I wouldnt mind picking up a picket just once.
You have got to be kidding. I have lost colleagues and have students who are tramatized and working to ensure their recovery from this disaster. Dealing with this additional stress is incomprehensible. Twisting the knife is going to help? Please do not do this……..Jack
As a Canadian I am always astounded at your ability ,in the U.S., to divide everything into a battle of Liberal vs. Conservative.
We live in a relatively liberal society here and our society has laws that prevent such hatemongers from doing what the Phelps’ do. Stop trying to blame the Liberals or the Conservatives and try blaming your society as a whole.I have a Republican relative who won’t recycle because Democrats won’t help to rescind abortion laws. I am not so naive as to believe that Canada is perfect, far from it, but it is astonishing how much hatred lies within your nation and more frightening how it is allowed to fester and eventually explode. This self righteousness anger is expressed both internally and internationally.
These people are disgusting. You better believe I will be the first to picket when that asshole Fred Phelps dies. They are warping their children and disrespecting the men and women who have served our country. NOW they want to disrespect the Va Tech victims. It’s dispicable. Luckily, they have fewer than 100 people in the cult…er, uh…”congregation” I mean.
This is beyond ridiculous. I was recently informed through a class I am taking about this Fred Phelps guy. From what i’ve read (and trust me, i’ve been searching just about all day) This “religion” he has is nothing but a narrow based mis-interperation of the Bible. Don’t think I’m not writing letters to senators, and legislators and anyone I can to try and set light on these people. For all those who lost someone at VT– I am praying for you and your families, it was a tragedy. Those kids didn’t deserve to die any more than you and I did.
What WBC must have forgot to read when they began creating these websites is, John 3:16. for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, not gigglesnorts lawlz i dun lyk u america !!11 All Deaths are at my hand b/c u did wrong~ peace.

You may like to know that this so called “liberal judge” is a former US prosecutor for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She was mentored by the ultra conservative Mitch McConnell and was appointed at the bench by… President George W. Bush.

In truth, the laws that prevent Westboro Baptist Church from street preaching at funerals while every other Tom, Dick and Harry are allowed to voice their opinion, are unconstitutional and they will never stand. Even if the godless Supreme Court allows them to stand, God will not.
WBC peacefully delivers a message (a message that the dead want preached - that’s what Jesus says in the N.T.) and it is like pouring salt on a slug! The heathens rage and this in turn angers God all the more. It will be a horrible day for this country if one of the “little ones” from WBC are harmed. Jesus said it would be better if you tied a great big stone wheel around your neck and jumped in the ocean!
The answer for America is easy. Admit your sins, show shame, fall on your face and beg God for forgiveness. Then get up forget your old lifestyle and OBEY OBEY OBEY! But that means no Brokeback Mountain, no divorce and remarriage, no abortions, and no idols. Do you see the problem here? America is not willing to give these things up. Ergo, America is doomed.

I have watched the Hatemongers documentary on Fred Phelps and I can understand his opinions. However, the video above apalls me. It was never God’s intention to hate his creation because He breathed His own breath into us and made us in His image. To hate is not an act of God; He is slow to anger. The sins disgust God, not the sinners. Maybe God can forgive Fred Phelp’s hatred of his fellow man. I have never had so much rage in my life until I heard of WBC!
I agree with all of your staements…i am doing a paper on them,what they r u doing is wrong and very hurtful to me just as much as anyone else…i might just be in high school but i can still get just as angry as anyone else. Thank you ~jessjess~
